The Wall Street Journal had an interesting article on a practical use of a drone. This is the link.
The drone will be used to fly medicine to a remote island called Juist, which makes a lot of sense.
- No worries about the drone crashing on people or property and causing damage
- The only other ways to deliver medicine are via scheduled ferry or using an expensive helicopter or airplane.
- The government and a large private courier company (DHL) are involved so fewer worries about slapdash equipment or operation.
On another note, the journal also reported that the FCC is approving drones for film work.
